AJC Russian Division Interns 2011
 
Mariya Timkovsky started her internship on June 3, 2011 and ended August 7, 2011. She attends Brandeis University(rising sophmore) and is planning to major in Health: Science Society and Policy. She was born in St. Petersburg, Russia and moved to New York with her family when she 9 months old. She enjoys dancing, singing, playing guitar and occasionally piano, writing poetry and prose, and hanging out with friends. Mariya went to Israel with her 8th grade class and fell in love with the beauty of the country. She hopes to go back there again soon.

"I learned a lot about the Jewish People and, in particular, Russian Jews while working at AJC. I was welcomed into a very friendly atmosphere and I couldn't ask for a more fruitful way to spend my first summer in college. Thank you, AJC!"
 
Maria Prosviryakova interned for the Russian Jewish Affairs Division from August 2011 to September 2011. She is from Moscow and received a Master's Degree in Political Science from Moscow State Institute of International Relations. Maria is a global citizen who believes in the power of communications and hopes to become a driving force that will change the world.

Dana Merkovich started her internship on June 14, 2011 and finished on August 24, 2011. She is about to be a sophomore at Hunter College. Dana's hobbies include playing the piano, playing tennis, and swimming. For now, her major is undecided, but she is strongly considering Media Studies.

"AJC is like a world of its own. There is so much going on and I have never met so many intelligent people in one place. Working in the Russian Department helped me discover so many new things, and all in all, it was an enriching experience. Cannot wait to come back... if they take me, that is."
 
Valeriya Kamenova is originally from Bulgaria. She started her internship in November 2010 and finished in May 2011. She studies at Ramapo College of New Jersey- double major in International Studies and Political Science. Valeriya is very interested in Russian and Middle Eastern Studies as well as the European Union.

Andrew Squire is a junior at Yale University. Andrew is a bass in the Yale Russian Chorus and is Simon Cowell's replacement on American Idol.
 
Michalle Makarov is a junior at Sarah Lawrence College. She has recently discovered the best Red Velvet cupcake in New York and is a potential Pulitzer Prize winner.
 
Vlad Popik is a junior at Binghamton University. He is a two sport athlete and will be playing for both the Knicks and the Rangers this upcoming season.
 

AJC Russian Division Interns 2005-2009

 
Lala Mehdiyeva is from Baku, Azerbaijan. She recieved her Masters in European and Mediteranian Studies from New York University's, Center for European and Mediterranean Studies. Lala interned in AJC's Russian Division during the winter and spring of 2009.

Alona L. Gutman is from Rockville, MD. She studied Political Science Major at Drew University. Alona interned in AJC's Russian Division during the summer of 2009.

Elizabeth M. Mirovich is from Old Bridge, NJ. She studied International Relations at Boston Univeristy. Elizabeth interned in AJC's Russian Division during the summer of 2009.

Radmila Yordanova received a B.A. in Modern Languages and European Studies from Bath University (Bath, UK). She went on to receive her Masters in French Studies from New York University. Radmilla interned in AJC's Russian Division during the spring and summer of 2009.

Olga Desyatnik is from Brooklyn, NY. She majored in Government and Comparative Literature at Cornell University. Olga was an intern in AJC's Russian Division during the summer of 2007.

Natalya Akmuradova is from Brooklyn, NY. She received her Masters in Non Profit Management from The New School, Milano Graduate School of Management and Urban Policy. Natalya was an intern in AJC's Russian Division during the summer of 2005.
