American Jewish Committee issued this statement following Israel's recognition of Morocco's sovereignty over Western Sahara.
The American Jewish Committee, which has long supported the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco and last brought a leadership delegation to Dakhla two months ago as the latest demonstration of that support, warmly welcomes the Israeli announcement on the Moroccan Sahara. This is a natural extension of the increasingly close and synergistic relationship between the Kingdom of Morocco and the State of Israel – an outgrowth of the historic bonds between Morocco and the Jewish people.
Prime Minister Netanyahu’s letter to His Majesty King Mohammed VI is also a vivid example of the potential for partnership in meeting a range of challenges and seizing a range of opportunities that are the direct result of the vision of His Majesty in advancing relations between Morocco and Israel.
