AJC to Form Task Force to Implement White House Antisemitism Plan

Tel Aviv–June 12, 2023–Ted Deutch, CEO of American Jewish Committee (AJC) today announced AJC will launch a task force to help implement the White House National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism.

The whole-of-society strategy, released last month, features dozens of recommendations that had been offered by AJC.

“There are more than 100 concrete actions in the White House plan that the federal government will pursue to keep the Jewish community safe, and over 100 more for a range of other sectors of American society to accomplish, including local government, universities, and law enforcement,” Deutch said at AJC Global Forum in Tel Aviv, the organization’s annual meeting,

Deutch said that the Task Force will ensure that items in the action plan are carried out within the timelines set by the White House.

“AJC’s Task Force will ensure that the White House action plan becomes a reality in ways that will keep the Jewish community safe, secure, and strong.”

Deutch detailed how the full force of AJC, the global advocacy organization for the Jewish people, will mobilize to fulfill the task force’s mission, activating interreligious, intergroup, and other coalitions along with local government and academic institutions through AJC’s 25 U.S. regional offices, drawing in experts from AJC’s European offices, and marshaling support in Congress and the federal government via AJC’s Washington-based Department of Policy and Political Affairs.

Three months prior to the Biden administration's release of the U.S. National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism, AJC organized a meeting with envoys from across the globe at the White House, where they shared best practices and lessons from abroad, as well as their individual action plans with the interagency policy group.

Many of the proposals in the White House strategy mirror the recommendations in the AJC Call to Action Against Antisemitism, a society-wide guide that offers government, law enforcement, the media, educational institutions, and businesses specific tools to understand, recognize, and fight antisemitism.

AJC is the global advocacy organization for the Jewish people. With headquarters in New York, 25 offices across the United States, 14 overseas posts, as well as partnerships with 38 Jewish community organizations worldwide, AJC's mission is to enhance the well-being of the Jewish people and Israel, and to advance human rights and democratic values in the United States and around the world.
